The sessions are designed to be a fun and creative introduction to digital photography techniques and are perfect for pupils from key stages one to four.
Most camera devices are capable of producing bright, sharp focussed pictures, so the main emphasis is that of composition and working with lighting techniques, covering a range of subjects including portraiture, still life, forced perspective, painting with light, landscapes and architectural photography.

The series of club meetings run for either a half or a full term; during which time the children learn to achieve the best results from their own photographic devices, whether they’re operating an iPod/iPad or similar tablet, a simple compact camera, or a sophisticated digital bridge/DSLR camera.
With the club members using their own equipment, school staff and parents can rest assured that Education in Focus has no access to the photographs taken during the club meetings.
Evening Photography Workshops
These prove a popular choice with families looking for quality parent and child time together. Typically, they run between 7.00 and 9.00pm on one evening over three consecutive weeks. The content follows much the same as the after-school clubs and they’re designed to be an informative introduction to the digital photography art form.
Curriculum-time Sessions
These are designed to provide pupils with photography tuition which is tailored to specific subjects being taught within the curriculum framework.
Following consultation with head teachers and heads of year staff, we propose outlines on how photography can be utilised to provide a practical perspective to otherwise theoretical mainstream curriculum subjects. Upon approval of the proposals, we produce detailed lesson plans including learning objectives, equipment requirements, teaching methods and learning outcomes.

For example, we’re currently working alongside teachers for year groups EYFS to six. Some of the subjects in which we’ve provided photography participation include science (forest school flora; habitats; healthy eating; shadows; the three states of matter), history (ancient Greece; the Victorians; the Anglo Saxons & Vikings) and creative arts (painting with light; industry; branded packaging).
Our ‘Maths in Focus’ workshops are designed to link photography, ICT and literacy with observational mathematics; including quantities, shapes and problem solving. We also have a series of workshops to prepare year nine students for the photography module of their GCSE creative arts course.
Staff Training
Promoted as being perfect for INSET and team building days, these workshops are intended specifically to serve as broadening teaching staff’s photography knowledge as part of their PPA or to introduce them to the possibilities of linking this creative art form into the curriculum.
Promotional Audio/Video Films
We provide television documentary quality film-making to enhance the general promotion of schools or working to specific briefs. In addition to filming, our professional editing suite utilises the latest technology to deliver award winning films.
Web-site Gallery and Prospectus Photography
We have been capturing “typical school activity” imagery for many years. Naturally, we can utilise existing photographs – but frequently, schools choose to commission us to take fresh photography to best promote the school and all it has to offer.
Prospectuses
All schools are required to have a prospectus, whether as a digital link from their website or as a printed version. The creative flair of our graphic designers, coupled with the wealth of experience within our print management team come together to produce prospectuses that stand out from the crowd. Whilst you might choose to provide your own text, we also offer a professional copy writing resource.
Complementing this is the opportunity to include page-turning video, audio and animation within the website version.
School Leavers’ Books
These keepsakes prove popular with children and their families. They hold those treasured memories and photographs of their peers (and staff) from time spent at school.
The photographs are either taken by us or incorporated into a ‘portrait photography’ workshop run within the school day.
Graphic Displays
Powerful imaging around the school continues to serve as excellent marketing collateral. Suitable for both indoor and exterior positioning, these graphics are supplied printed on to either rigid Foamex boards or canvasses utilising photography supplied by students or commissioned with us.
